課程概述

This Sophomore Composition module requires students to develop various writing skills and the instructor emphasizes critical thinking as well as creative ideas. Students are especially encouraged to apply their ideas exchanged during class discussion to their essays and other writing tasks required for this module. The training of writing skills is combined with reading practice. Students must be prepared to preview their assigned texts before attending class. All student essays, unless otherwise announced, will be available for the class to read and discuss as course materials.
The writing class trains students to write with clarity and coherence. Students will write essays to practice using different modes of writing in combination and produce well-supported, persuasive arguments. Through in-class exercises and writing workshops, student will learn how others respond to their writing and how to express themselves more clearly in writing with such increased awareness of the effects created by their own words. While honing their written English into a better style, students will also learn to appreciate the choices made in any writing process and become able to choose wisely.
